Another Setback

It is now over 2 weeks since I escaped hospital and 5 weeks since I last managed to work. The original target was for me to return to work but once again I have suffered a setback. Things were progressing slowly, not helped by the cold and windy weather which has limited my opportunities to leave the house. Despite this I was still improving and did have a chance of returning to work this coming week. Unfortunately though, a few days I started to display symptoms of yet another chest infection, I was coughing up some colored mucus and phlegm, I was very short of breath, I was coughing a lot more, my chest became tighter (again) and my sats dropped. On top of this I am still struggling to sleep and in general I feel as rough as hell!

A made an appointment to see my GP and I was prescribed another course of antibiotics, we have increased my prednisolone again and the nebuliser seems to be in constant use. My GP has also extended my sick note for a further week or 2 (depending on how I feel and if an appropriate phased return can be arranged).

I feel pretty much back to square one at the moment but hopefully things will improve quickly once I get over this latest infection. I am becoming very bored at home, I am missing seeing my mates, work and football, I need to get back to a normal way of life as soon as possible. My beloved Scunthorpe are flying up the league in my absence and are currently on a 6 game winning streak. It would appear that I am missing them far more than they are missing me! Yesterday they beat Charlton 2-0 and are now third in the league.

In addition to this I had tickets to go and see The Killers at Sheffield Arena last night but unfortunately due to my stupid lungs I was unable to make it (fortunately I managed to sell my ticket).

Tomorrow also sees me returning to hospital for my latest Xolair injections so hopefully I will get a small boost which I often get following my injections.
